Lincoln Memorial DC Engagement Session
After Surmeet’s surprise proposal at the bar they first met at in DC earlier in the week, we scheduled an engagement session at The Lincoln Memorial for additional photos! The Lincoln Memorial is one of my favorite monuments in DC for engagement photos! Plenty of options and spots to visit including the columns, the view from the columns, The Reflecting Pool, plus trees and grassy areas nearby! My favorite shot is where we started in between the columns with the iconic DC view of The Reflecting Pool, followed by the Washington Monument and Capitol Building. Consider an early morning sunrise session for the best time of day to go to avoid tourists! A sunrise session is also a great idea during the summer to avoid the heat!
Aside from engagement and other sessions, the Lincoln is also a popular spot for surprise proposals! If you’re interested in scheduling a session, reach out today to learn more! I’m happy to help you plan for your session.

Washington DC Reflecting Pool Surprise Proposal & Engagement Session
The Reflecting Pool is an iconic spot for a surprise proposal with a DC view! The steps of The Lincoln Memorial can be crowded at times with tourist so by proposing in front of The Reflecting Pool you get a similar view of The Washington Monument without tourist behind you since no one will be in the water! If you propose off to the side slightly you can also get a view of The Capital Building peeking out from behind the monument. If you’re more centered The Washington Monument would hide The Capital. After the proposal you can get some great shots with The Lincoln behind you. During Cherry Blossom peak bloom you can also walk a little bit to get some shots with the trees! Lots of options within a small walking distance. Get in touch to learn more about planning a surprise proposal in the Washington DC area!

Washington DC Lincoln Memorial Surprise Proposal & Cherry Blossom Engagement Session
The Lincoln Memorial is the perfect spot for a DC surprise proposal with an amazing view of The Washington Memorial in between the columns of the The Lincoln. I captured this picture perfect proposal in the middle of Cherry Blossom season where we got super lucky with out tourist walking into this amazing shot! After the proposal we walked over to The FDR Memorial and Tidal Basin for some Cherry Blossom photos as they were in peak bloom. The Cherry Blossom Festival is a spring celebration honoring the gift of the Japanese Cherry Trees to The US from Japan in 1912. The trees celebrated the friendship between the US and Japan. This is a super busy time of year for photographers as many couples schedule engagement sessions and photography sessions at the blossoms!
Thank you for this amazing testimonial!
"Jon was excellent. Although I wasn't the one planning the proposal (I'm the bride :) ), I cannot get over how amazing the photos were that Jon took. My friends didn't believe me when I showed them the proposal picture and told them that it was taken in the real moment - they thought it was recreated afterwards! Jon was so natural to be around and you can really tell how much he loves taking photos, finding the right angle, etc. My favorite part was how quick he was to send a few photos after the proposal - I was excited to use his beautiful photo to announce my engagement and I was so happy I didn't have to wait long!"
