Lincoln Memorial Surprise Proposals
Proposing at the Lincoln Memorial
The Lincoln Memorial is an iconic location for a surprise proposal in Washington, DC! It is one of the most commonly requested locations! We have photographed over 50 surprise proposals at the Lincoln at all times of day and different times of the year! This post will give you some tips to keep in mind when planning a surprise proposal at the Lincoln Memorial!
What is the best time to propose at The Lincoln Memorial?
The absolute best time is sunrise on a weekday. This is the time with the least amount of tourist. In general, weekdays and early morning tend to be less crowded. Early morning is also great for easy parking and great light! We have photographed proposals at other times as well and are happy to provide tips on avoiding tourist or getting the best shot when it’s busier
Where should I propose at the Lincoln?
The most popular spot is in between the columns with the view of the Reflecting Pool, Washington Monument, and US Capitol. Two other great areas are the grass on the sides of the Lincoln and in front of the Reflecting Pool. We provide our clients detailed directions and instructions upon booking.
What happens if it rains?
If it rains on your proposal date, you will be covered under the columns of the Lincoln. It’s best to take a ride share and bring an umbrella to keep you dry as you walk up. If you are flexible on the date, we can reschedule.
Check for large events:
When planning a proposal at the Lincoln, be sure to check for large scheduled events such as rallies or protest that occur on occasion.
